I've decided to embrace to embrace technology. It's hear, it is not going away and my kids are better at it than I am. Given the fact that I am only 44 and should have a good 40 left well, it is time to wake up and smell the roses on technology.
For years I have had the lap top. This is so I can hide my computer so my kids don't download so much stuff that I can't use it at all. Now that's technology! Then there is the palm pilot. I bought the cheap one to save money and now I have to make notes on paper then transfer them to the palm pilot. I still am not sure about this one but, I can't give it up because then I would be a quitter.
Now TiVO is the best. If you don't have it, guaranteed if you try it free for a month you will never be with out it again. Here is how it works; you can record any TV program you want, up to 80 hours of TV, then when you want to watch it, ha, there it is. You might be thinking I would never want to watch that much TV and neither do I. But, when I do want to watch I can watch it without commercials and because I don't have that much time to watch TV, well I can watch a one hour program in 42 min. It's great. It is also great because I can record what programs the kids watch. More parental controls over the children. I love it. There is one more benefit that I am not as excited about but, Paul is. Watching sports is amazing! A baseball game can be watched in less than and hour.
This summer we bought a PS-2 because of this great game called "DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION". Oh my gosh it is so much fun and you get a great workout. I am always drenched in sweat when we are finished. It's fun quality time with the kids. Here is a tip. Practice when your kids aren't around. It is a bit humiliating when you are first learning and the kids leave no mistake unspoken for.
The latest is XM-radio. I have an inno. It goes everywhere! In the home, the car, on walks, waiting for soccer practice, the plane. Everywhere. They have this talk program called "The Broads" Some funny women that are so entertaining you just forget about time. It is also a Mp3 player so you can download all your favorite songs and anytime you hear a song on the radio you like you just hit the button and it records from the beginning. How fun is that?
I won't say this all comes without a bit of discomfort and frustration. But, I do think the benefits are worth it!
